They were making baby foods containing chemicals without professional chemists and without proper laboratory facilities.
Detectives from the Lalbagh Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested two people from Kamrangirchar, the capital, on charges of manufacturing adulterated baby food and drink.
Those arrested are Md Shahjalal and Md Rashed. They were arrested Thursday evening at a house in the Khalifa Ghat Kazi Bari Galli Road neighborhood in Kamrangirchar.
The raid was carried out by the arms recovery and drug recovery unit of DB Lalbagh.
Deputy Police Commissioner Fazlur Rahman said on Friday that the men made and sold baby food containing chemicals without legal documents, professional chemists and proper laboratory facilities.

Police seized mango fruit drinks (popsicles) named “Sumaiya Frutila”, mango-shaped plastic bottles and various types of chemicals.
Fazlur Rahman also said, “The culprits produced adulterated baby food and drink under different names, and sold them in various places in the capital and other districts. Consumption of these foods can have serious and prolonged health effects, especially for children. ”
A complaint was filed against the duo under the Special Powers Act to Kamrangirchar Police Station.
