Spotlight on America details ‘groundbreaking’ baby food lawsuit

Baum Hedlund Aristei & Goldman represents Melissa Cantabrana, who is taking on the baby food industry for allegedly causing autism in her son Noah. Cantabrana says she linked her son’s diagnosis to the foods he ate as a baby after reading a scathing government report titled “Baby foods are contaminated with dangerous levels of arsenic, lead, of cadmium and mercury”. The Baby Food Report specifically called Nurture (Happy Baby), GerberHain (Earth’s Best Organic), Parent’s Choice (Walmart), Plum Organics, Sprout Organic Foods and Beech-Nut for knowingly selling products that pose serious health risks to babies.

Cantabrana called on the legal aid of lawyers Pedram Esfandiary and R. Brent Wisner to hold baby food companies accountable in court. Lawyers are all too familiar with the legal battles of David vs. Goliath, having won billions in jury verdicts against Monsanto Corporation in the Roundup litigation.

“I’m not concerned that these guys are Goliaths,” Esfandiary told Spotlight. “All that matters is the truth. And the facts say these metals should never have been in baby food. They should never have been in the bodies of American children.”

Parents across the country agree. Esfandiary and his firm now represent more than 1,000 families in baby food litigation.

According to Esfandiary, if the judge handling the Cantabrana case decides that there is enough scientific data to support the allegations, a trial could be rushed and the case would be discovered, potentially allowing the documents of the defendant companies. to enter the public folder.

As the litigation progresses, Cantabrana continues to work tirelessly with Noah in therapy. “I hope we can share this information with other moms and other families that it’s time for this to stop,” she says.
