e-commerce company that supplies baby products raises $ 75,000 | Ahmedabad News

The pandemic has brought about a fundamental change in the way people shop, and e-commerce has played a critical role in shaping that change. By tapping into the baby and maternity products market through the e-commerce channel, an Ahmedabad-based startup, TheBabyBo, raised $ 75,000 (around Rs 55 lakh) within six months of its launch.
Parth Sharma, Founder and CEO of TheBabyBo, said, “We started our fundraising in March and closed the deal in May. With the new fundraising, we plan to improve our technology offerings on our platform as well as expanding our team. . We are also focusing on the rise of digital marketing to be able to respond to a larger market. ”
The startup, which was also co-founded by Siddhi Samel and Umang Seth, was incorporated in October 2020, while the digital platform was launched in December 2020.
“When the uncertainty around Covid-19 and the lockdown struck together, many parents and parents-to-be had to run from pillar to post to find childcare and maternity supplies. The gap in need was evident, and so on. This is when the idea for such a startup hit. We surveyed a population of over 1,000 new parents in addition to at least 200 physicians to better understand this gap and identify how we can fix it, ”Sharma explained.
The startup operates on a subscription model whereby personalized kits comprising 6-8 child and maternity products tailored to customer needs are provided to subscribers from time to time. “Currently, we have at least 300 unique subscribers and by the end of fiscal year 2021-22, we aim to cross 10,000 subscribers. We also operate a business-to-business space, in addition to the direct market,” said Sharma, who holds an MBA – Marketing from Indian Business School (IBS) – Mumbai.
In fact, Sharma started imagining and working on the startup while completing her MBA. TheBabyBo is incubated in the incubation program of the Start-up Chaupal.
The e-commerce platform serves some 27 Tier I and II cities, mainly in North, West and South India.
“We serve cities like Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Surat, Nagpur, Pune, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Gorakhpur, Kasol and Bhuwaneshwar,” Sharma said.
